Confessions of a make up addict....

I have to cut up my card, the amount of new make up and beauty products I have bought this week is RIDICULOUS! On a brighter note it means lots of reviews and hauls coming up. I did get quite a few bargains so its all good. I'll update this more often this is just a quick hello! Reviews etc. to follow. stay gorgeous!

Cleaning your make up brushes like a pro....

Image
Cleaning your make-up brushes is a rather boring task but its a must for us make up addicts! Cleaning regularly keeps dirt and bacteria gone which hopefully means no break outs for our lovely skin! I try to clean mine every week. You can use an instant brush cleaner for a quick cleans or to give them a thorough cleanse, wash them with shampoo and leave overnight to dry (my personal fave). Try not to get any water on the handle of the brush or the part that holds the brush fibres to the handle as this can damage the brush fibres and they can fall apart. There are a few good brush cleaners out there and you only need a little for each brush. You simply pour some cleaner into a dish and dip each brush gently into the product.   Alternatively you can put some mild shampoo or washing up liquid into the palm of your hand, swirl your brush into it then rinse clean with water. You can also use a little conditioner to make them super soft.       MAC BRUSH CLEANER

How to apply bold lipstick

This might seem like an easy task but I still have trouble. This applies with red mainly to be but any strong lip colour so here are some tips to help! Make sure you have your chosen lipstick, a matching lip liner (or close shade) some tissue and a lip gloss if required. Your lips should be clean and dry, I usually put balm on about 10 minutes before then let it dry. You can use a cleansing wipe or cotton wool with some make up remover on if needed. I usually do my lips last but its whatever your preference is. I dab a little pressed powder on the lips to help the colour stay in place. Line your lips with your chosen colour. Don't go outside the natural lip line if possible. After lining around your lips fill them in completely with the liner. This is a good base for your lipstick to stay put. This also helps if the lipstick wears off as you will still have a base until you can touch up your lips. Now apply your lipstick. I like to use a lip brush but sometimes if you h

Spring clean skin!

Image
So spring has sprung! Well, sort of where i live its pretty and sunny but snowing! Anyway as the saying goes its good to have a 'spring-clean' whether its your desk at work, your wardbrobe or just your make up and skin care routine. I like to mix things up. If you don't then just simply re stock :) The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask rrp £12.00 ($18.00) This clay mask is great for oilier complexions, or for skin thats a little clogged up. Its a great deep cleansing mask which draws out impurities and leaves skin feeling clear and fresh. It contains seaweed which helps to detoxify skin too. It does have a really thick consistency so you really only need to apply a thin layer, leave for ten minutes, then rinse. I would use this probably once or twice a week. Its long lasting and a great price, and its smells lovely too :) The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Booster rrp £14.00 (30ml) $21.00 First off this smells amazing! So fresh I love it. It radiants your skin a

When to get rid of make up...

As you may or may not know I am a self confessed make up addict, and mascara is my main addiction of choice! Mascara is also the one thing you should always keep check of for expiring. Although mascaras usually have some kind of antibacterial formula in them this will only last around 2-3 months max. If you notice a smell or change in texture you should throw it out. The longer you keep any mascara you run the risk of eye infections.  I have to admit I've kept mascara for longer than I should have and I my eyes seem to be doing ok! Concealer lasts about 12 months and powder is about 2 years. Things like eye and lip pencils are really long lasting just make sure you sharpen regularly. Eyeshadow is also very durable, unless like mine they crumble in my handbag! But you should be okay for roughly 12-18 months. Lipstick is good for about 2 years and apparently keeping it cold (in the fridge) makes it last even longer. However, if i put all mine in the fridge I wouldn't have mu

I have been a bad blogger! But, to ease myself in I thought I write about some of my fave products i've been loving so far this year.. Shampoo is something that I tend to stick to one brand, maybe two. Some people say you should change it all the time, I say, if it aint broke don't fix it. I am loving these hair products. Herbal Essence Herbally Ever After rrp £3.89 (400ml) This is the '40 years' one to celebrate, well, 40 years of smelling lovely! Its a gorgeous bottle, very feminine and of course smells amazing with royal jasmine and silky sea palm extracts. Makes my hair smell and look gorgeous! I have used the V05 range for years. I hadn't tried any of the new range but I love this shampoo. I have quite frizzy hair and its coloured this shampoo makes it shiny and managable. Great price too and i love the price funky packaging :). V05 Gloss Me Smoothly Shampoo rrp £3.99 (500ml) John Frieda Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo & Conditioner r
